It’s no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been feuding with some members of the duke’s family ever since moving across the pond and publicly airing out the royals’ dirty laundry.

Things have gotten so bad between Harry and his brother, Prince William, that the two don’t even speak anymore. But now there may be hope that the Sussexes are finally ready to stop the royal bashing and could instead be working to heal the rift.

Someone who used to work for the royals is pointing to a sign that shows Meghan has been trying to “resolve” tensions with her in-laws.

Former royal aide believes that Meghan has been working to heal tensions

Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler from 2004 to 2011. During his time working for the monarch Harrold’s duties included that of housekeeper, house manager, driver, and valet. He also looked after Prince William and his then-girlfriend, Kate, whenever they stayed at Highgrove House.

According to Harrold, a new documentary titled Harry: The Lost Prince has Meghan pretty worried over what information will be revealed and that shows that behind closed doors she’s eagerly pushing for tensions to ease.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, the former royal butler said: “There have been reports that Meghan is feeling concerned about what will come out in the documentary, The Lost Prince, and that leads me to believe that behind closed doors, her relationship with the royals is improving and tensions are being resolved. Therefore, she wouldn’t want any new revelations to come out that could sour things once again.”

Harry: The Lost Prince was directed by veteran royal reporter Ulrike Grunewald. The film examines the Duke of Sussex’s journey within the royal family and his current life in California. Meghan and Harry did not work with Grunewald on the project and therefore had no editorial input.

If Harrold is correct about the former Suits star working to ease tensions, then Meghan isn’t the only one trying to mend fences as many believe what Kate wrote in her Christmas message was her way of extending an olive branch to her estranged brother-in-law.

On Dec 1, 2024, the Princess of Wales shared a message on social media for those attending her Christmas Carol concert this year. She wrote that the holidays are “a time for celebration and joy” and an “opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness, and forgiveness – so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”

The fact that she mentioned “forgiveness” has many convinced she was sending a peace offering to Prince Harry, who she was once very close with.

Meghan and Harry met when Meghan was still an American actress with a lifestyle blog. She was as breath of fresh air for Harry, having grown up nothing like the way he did. But once the two were married, it did not take long for Meghan to recognize that she wanted a life of philanthropy without the confines of royal rules. It was such a quick realization, in fact, that some think it was always her intention.

“To be honest, I don’t think she ever intended to stay in the royal family,” royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun. “Unfortunately, I think she was prepared to have a wonderful wedding costing millions of pounds, but I don’t think her heart was ever really in it, and I think she always planned to leave.”

Harry, on the other hand, wanted a world where he could have both — the royal family and the ability to choose his own adventure. The downside, though, is that this wasn’t feasible, and when his hand was forced to choose one over the other, he chose the freedom.

The problem with Harry and Meghan’s popularity isn’t that people hate them for leaving the royal family. It’s that people dislike the couple’s decision to bad-mouth the royal family after their exit.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly recently made a new home purchase: a vacation property in Portugal. However, the information was leaked rather than told. Harry and Meghan have remained silent on whether they bought a new property. But the couple’s big decision could actually indicate a new direction in their relationship with the public. Previously, they were very open about all of their experiences. They had documentaries, interviews, and books all recounting their time in the royal family. But now, their silence could mean they’re changing their views on letting the public in and are opting for a truly private life.

“Portugal may be something they’re planning to keep more private because they have been quite reticent in talking about it at all, royal expert Gareth Russell told GB News, via Express. “Whereas the Montecito purchase was fairly public.”

Russell added that the couple’s decision to publicize or not publicize the home purchase says a lot about them. “Whether they go private or public with the new Portuguese residence will be a good indicator of where they’re going in terms of how public or private they’ll be going forward, and whether it will be a change to what we have seen in the past.”

It seems Meghan’s getting a jump on Christmas gifts. Not ones for Prince Harry, or their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, but something special for her celebrity friends. According to Closer Magazine, she’s putting some of her most beloved products in packages and gifting them to Hollywood’s “who’s who.”

“Meghan has been meticulously curating gift packages filled with a selection of all her favourite [sic] things—and of course, plenty of her jam—to send to the who’s who of Hollywood,” an insider claimed.

So, that means jam from her American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand, which she sent to celebrity friends earlier in 2024, but what else?

Meghan’s a longtime fan of Tignanello wine. It inspired the name of her blog, The Tig, which she closed before marrying the Duke of Sussex in May 2018. Cuyana totes may get a spot in Meghan’s Christmas gift packages. Per People, they were reportedly part of the thank-you gifts for attending Meghan’s 2019 baby shower.

Diptyque candles could also be included. They made occasional appearances on Meghan’s defunct Instagram and have been spotted in her and Harry’s California home.

The Christmas gift packages go beyond a thoughtful gesture for Meghan. She’s reportedly hoping they’ll do double—even triple—duty come the holidays. Not just with friends and those in Hollywood, but with her new lifestyle brand and her own image.

“While there is no doubt it’s about promoting her American Riviera Orchard brand,” the insider said, “it’s also about spreading goodwill and trying to remind people of her softer side. With Christmas around the corner, Meghan sees it as the perfect time to try to rebuild connections and is determined not to start 2025 surrounded by negativity.”

Meghan, they added, has been feeling “increasingly lonely,” so she’s focusing on “strengthening friendships” via the Christmas gift packages. No expense is being spared because they are, in Meghan’s eyes, an “investment.”

“She’s sending them out to all her friends and acquaintances, and is willing to spend a fortune and a whole lot of time because she sees it as an investment in her relationships,” they explained.

How she and Prince Harry are spending Christmas is unclear

What’s on Harry and Meghan’s calendar for Christmas? The pair haven’t publicly shared what they’ll be doing over the holidays.

Will they celebrate at home before taking Archie and Lili to the Sussex family’s new vacation in Portugal? Or will they have a U.K. Christmas at Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home? What about spending Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk, England, with the rest of the royal family? Harry and Meghan haven’t had a royal Christmas in years—since 2018—and they’re reportedly not invited.

Whatever they’re planning, the Sussexes haven’t revealed the details publicly—and they might never. Harry and Meghan are known to be private about family life save for the occasional comment.

Amidst rumors that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s business partnership no longer serves them, the couple is reportedly “experimenting” with a professional separation.

Why would Prince Harry and Meghan Markle split professionally?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal work united the couple at personal appearances and other formal duties related to the crown. After they departed their royal roles in March 2020, Harry and Meghan took some time to find their footing outside of the House of Windsor.

They didn’t have to wait long. The couple were quickly signed to a reported 5-year $100M Netflix contract, as well as a podcast contract with Spotify and a book contract for Harry to write Spare. These endeavors netted the couple quite a hefty sum.

However, after debuting Harry & Meghan on Netflix, the couple’s next projects for the streaming service never caught fire. Meghan’s podcast was axed after one year. Harry’s book tour exposed cracks within the royal family, dividing the couple from the House of Windsor further.

Currently, the couple appears to have split professionally. They are working separately and reportedly “experimenting” with it being a more permanent part of their workload.

GB News quoted royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams who explained, “This is obviously a new tactic. The Sussexes want to promote their brand as best as they can.”

“They have tried something that has worked with the so-called royal tours of Nigeria and Colombia. Then we have got the solo engagements, so they are experimenting,” he continued. “The Sussexes need to keep their profile as they can’t attack the Royal Family at the moment, so now they have to think up new devices.”

For Prince Harry, he appears to work his best when he’s alone. He seems to show a more confident, relaxed persona during solo appearances.

Harry remains engaged with the Invictus Games. The next competition is scheduled for 2025.

In contrast, while Meghan is confident alone, she also appears to have no clear professional direction. Currently, Meghan has a project named American Riviera Orchard in the pipeline, but after months the lifestyle website still has not made its official debut.

Meghan was signed to WME in 2023. Film and TV series development and production, as well as business and brand partnerships, were the initial focus of her brand. No further news has been revealed about any new projects thus far.

Meghan’s one-of-a-kind gown, crafted by Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of the fashion house Givenchy, hid a sentimental piece of material. Woven inside the dress was a square from the dress she wore on their first date.

“We basically sewed it into the hem of the wedding dress, so she was the only one that knew that it was there,” Keller said to The Independent. “It was a little blue gingham check. It was the perfect personal memento that was secretly hidden inside the dress.”

First Buckingham Palace threw shade. Now it’s Prince William’s turn. The Prince of Wales, 42, reportedly took a photo “trolling” his estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, when he received a jar of jam in November 2024. About the photo and why a former courtier says it was no “accident.”

During his trip to Cape Town, South Africa, for the 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards, William received a pot of sour fig jam. Official photos, one of which is seen below, showed him receiving the jam from a local fisherwoman Sarah Niemond who, per the Daily Mail, told him her jam made its way to Buckingham Palace years earlier.

“Seven years ago someone from your country bought this South African jam and they bought it and took it back to England and they gave it to your grandmother,” Niemond said about the late Queen Elizabeth II.

William’s jam photo came seven months after Meghan announced her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, in March 2024. She subsequently offered a sneak peek at her homemade strawberry jam by sending it to celebrity friends, who posted about it on social media. Since then, however, Meghan’s new business venture has experienced various setbacks related to trademarking.

A former courtier says William’s jam photo wasn’t an ‘accident’

It seems William was “trolling” his estranged sister-in-law, Meghan, when he posed for an official photo holding a jar of jam on his November 2024 visit to South Africa. A former palace staffer who worked with William told The Daily Beast it was likely a deliberate move.

“Nothing happens by accident when it comes to royal photos,” they said, noting that “it looks very much like he is trolling her.” It wasn’t a coincidence either. The insider added that items presented to royals typically go through a screening process and are pre-approved once they’re deemed controversy-free.

While Kensington Palace declined to comment, a palace source told the outlet not to make much of William’s “trolling” jam photo. “HRH [His Royal Highness] was handed a jar of jam by a fisherwoman who he met at Kalk Bay. I wouldn’t read any more into it than that,” they said.

Meghan reportedly plans to launch American Riviera Orchard products when her upcoming Netflix cooking show premieres. At the time of writing, no premiere date or title has been unveiled.

When Harry prepared to propose to Meghan in the fall of 2017, he recalled how his brother “seemed to like Meg, despite for his oft-cited concerns.” Namely, her being an “American actress.”

By June 2018, William, Harry, Kate, and Meghan had a “clear the air” talk that quickly devolved into a heated argument. “It’s rude, Meghan. It’s not what’s done here in Britain,” William told Meghan about her previous remark about Kate’s “hormones.” At that Meghan said, “Kindly take your finger out of my face.”

“Was this really happening? Had it actually come to this? Shouting at each other about place cards and hormones?” Harry thought to himself. Fast-forward to present day and Harry and Meghan’s relationship with William—and Kate—remains strained. The couples rarely see each other and aren’t reportedly on speaking terms.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s Latest Project Labeled ‘Tacky’ and ‘Cringy’ By Sussexes’ Friends

After Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as working royals and moved to the U.S., they signed a huge deal with Netflix worth more than $100 million to produce content for the streaming giant.

The explosive six-part docuseries Harry & Meghan about their time as members of Britain’s most famous family was a huge hit and garnered 81.55 million viewing hours globally in the first week of its release, and the show appeared in the Top 10 TV list in 85 countries. However, the couple’s follow-up projects — Heart of Invictus and Live to Lead — failed to gain any significant interest or views and flopped.

Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have produced another documentary. This one is about the sport of polo and is already being slammed by Harry’s friends who have played it themselves.

Netflix dropped the trailer for Polo on Nov. 21. The description for the program reads: “The documentary series follows elite global players on and off the field as they compete in the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida. Through fierce rivalries and intense training, viewers will get an unprecedented glimpse into the dedication and skill required to compete at the sport’s highest level.”

After seeing the trailer, friends of the prince who played polo with him when they were younger, didn’t like what they saw.

One pal told the Daily Beast: “The irony is that polo is actually a surprisingly inclusive sport these days. You do see plenty of rich kids but there are also plenty of kids from less rarefied backgrounds who just happen to be fantastic riders who are sponsored by the teams. It doesn’t look like this show is going to foreground that, which is a real missed opportunity.”

Another former friend who played polo with Harry as a teenager said: “It’s hilarious, but not in a good way. It’s so tacky and cringy. It is literally all the worst things about polo. I watched it in appalled hysterics.”

Netflix executives ‘incredibly disappointed’ in documentary

Many people who watched the trailer weren’t impressed either with a majority of commenters saying they will not be tuning in to the Sussexes’ latest documentary.

“Netflix could have just made a documentary about polo without Harry’s name and saved 100 million,” one person wrote, while another said: “Netflix, no thank you. It’s not even a documentary.” And a third added: “Harry and Meghan Kardashian. These duo have the ability to bring down the tone of everything they get involved with.”

Others expressed concerns about animal cruelty posting: “Tony Moore, chairman of the Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe, said, ‘Prince Harry is cruel. If a rider uses their spurs in a way that injures a horse then that is cruel’ and I refuse to support any sport or show that condones animal abuse for entertainment. Big no from me. Shame on you Netflix!!!”

PETA criticized the sport ahead of the trailer release and said polo is “hard on horses” and that “while it’s easy to be wooed by the glitz on display at the matches, there is no doubt that polo is more grim than glamourous for the horses.”

According to royal commentator and To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield, Netflix executives have not responded to the accusations of animal “abuse” or “cruelty” but are “incredibly disappointed” at Prince Harry’s lack of involvement in the Polo docuseries.

“Netflix is incredibly disappointed that Prince Harry is not more involved throughout the project,” Schofield told Sky News Australia. “You know, [the company’s] return on investment simply isn’t there and they’ve learned the hard way.”

In fact, during Trump’s state visit to the U.K. in 2019, Prince Harry and his brother opted not to do a photo opp with the president following the comments he made about Meghan being “nasty.”

And more recently there was reportedly worry among the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about Trump being reelected because he stated that unlike the Biden administration, he wouldn’t step in and shield Harry’s visa records which if the prince did lie on could lead to a potential deportation scenario.

But no matter what the incoming president thinks of the Sussexes Trump’s wife, Melania, apparently gets “inspiration” from Meghan in the way she interacts with her husband. Here’s what a body language expert has said about that.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Stanton explained: “One of Meghan’s subtle techniques with Harry is to touch his elbow when he’s mid-conversation and it’s a way to signal she would like attention or she would like to leave. You can see Harry reacting accordingly almost every time.”

The expert added: “She can also give a subtle look to Harry that is his cue to bring her into a conversation. She never makes it too obvious though.

“Melania does the same with Donald Trump when they’re together. Like Meghan, she’s careful to not steal the spotlight but this subtle move shows she has some control in the relationship. Melania has also been known to signal how she is feeling to her husband with a look. She can say a lot with her eyes.”

According to Stanton, the women also “use their height to their advantage, standing up straight and maintaining a good amount of eye contact with whoever they are conversing with. Meghan never displays signs she’s nervous or anxious, such as fiddling with buttons or touching the back of her neck. She captivates the camera and commands a room with ease.

“Melania displays very similar traits and can steal the spotlight without doing too much.”

Going forward, Stanton opined that Melania may opt to wear more of the power color Meghan favors.

“Meghan has been spotted wearing red on a number of occasions and it’s a bold color choice. It’s a superhero color, as they typically favor primary tones. It’s a color that you wear to stand out and grab attention … It’s a clever tactic to ensure all eyes are on you without making it obvious you want the attention.

“Melania could likely adopt the same color palette as Meghan because she sees the power it has. Meghan manages to steal the limelight every time she’s out.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in the public eye since the two announced they were a couple back in 2016. After a 2018 wedding and a tumultuous few years in the royal family, Harry and Meghan ultimately stepped down from their senior royal roles in order to carve out new business ventures and a new life for themselves in the United States.

Harry and Meghan were often making public appearances together, but recently, the two have stopped spending so much time in public. Now, it looks like Meghan has once again made a solo appearance without her husband.

Meghan Markle stepped out for yet another appearance without Prince Harry

Before the internet trolls have a feeding frenzy, this does not mean there is anything wrong with Harry and Meghan’s marriage. The two just seem to have stopped overlapping in their public and business lives so much and appear to be carving out new individual roles for themselves. Meghan solidified this idea once more in mid-November, when she attended an event and announced that she was financially backing a new haircare line called Highbrow Hippie, which is a line by Kadi Lee, who has done Meghan’s hair in the past.

The Duchess of Sussex attended the event without her husband, and it isn’t the first time the two have shown up without each other. Earlier this year, Harry embarked on a number of engagements around the globe without his wife. He visited the UK and South Africa while Meghan stayed home and worked on her own business ventures. The duchess attended a gala for the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, and she most recently attended the haircare line event.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing that Harry and Meghan are separating their relationship from their business ventures. The Sussexes have struggled to grow their popularity in recent years since distancing themselves from the royals, but it seems that when they appear individually rather than as a couple, they are better-received by the public.

The two have not spoken out about separating their business and personal life, but a number of experts have weighed in and believe the decision was intentional. For now, it seems to be working in their favor, but it’s important to note that Harry and Meghan appear to have a strong marriage, and their personal relationship does not seem to be the cause for going their separate ways in the public eye.
