Season 29 of ‘The Bachelor’ Gets a Premiere Date

The Golden Bachelorette will air its season finale on Nov. 13. Ahead of the big finale, ABC has revealed what fans can expect next in Bachelor Nation. While the network has not revealed who will appear as the next golden bachelor just yet, it has shared the release date for the next season of The Bachelor; fans will get to watch Grant Ellis lead season 29 in just a few short months.

‘The Bachelor’ season 29 has a premiere date

ABC has officially announced the premiere date for The Bachelor. Bachelor Nation fans will have a couple of months of off time following the end of The Golden Bachelorette. While ABC announced their next lead way back in August, Season 29 of The Bachelor is not set to premiere until late January. According to Deadline, the series will premiere on Jan. 27. The premiere episode will span two hours and will begin at 8 pm. Ellis will entertain 27 love interests to start but will likely head into week 2 with between 20 and 24 potential soulmates.

Grant Ellis, a day trader, will take on the lead role. ABC revealed the 27 ladies Ellis will court several weeks ago. His potential love interests range in age from 23 to 32 and come from across the United States, although several reside in New York. Ellis, 30, lives in New Jersey.

When was Grant Ellis eliminated from ‘The Bachelorette’?

The premiere of The Bachelor season 29 comes months after Ellis was named the next bachelor while Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette was still airing. Ellis competed on Tran’s disastrous season but was nixed during week 6 of the competition. He was sent home along with Spencer Conley and Sam McKinney.

While Tran seemed confident in her decisions throughout the series, fans were unsure of the many choices she made. Eliminating Ellis while keeping Devin Strader and Jeremy Simon was considered one of her worst possible moves.

Tran eventually picked Devin Strader and left the series engaged, but that engagement was short-lived. By the time the finale aired, Tran and Strader had parted ways. It was later revealed that Strader had a history of domestic violence and inappropriate behavior. Tran’s runner-up, Marcus Shoberg, was accused of sexual assault.

There is surely more to come from Bachelor Nation in 2025. While it’s still unclear if the network will move ahead with a second season of The Golden Bachelor, the season will likely premiere sometime after season 29 of The Bachelor wraps up.

Pascal Ibgui was one of the more divisive contestants on The Golden Bachelorette for most of the competition, but he self-eliminated late in the competition. The self-elimination was met with mixed emotions, but the positive was he let Joan Vassos go so she could find someone excited about her. While Pascal endeared himself to fans of the series with his honesty just weeks ago, it was short-lived.

He’s now coming under fire for his odd suggestion for ways to change up The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette. While the 69-year-old hairstylist was among the oldest contestants on Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette, he’d like to see much younger ladies compete for his affection if he became the next Golden Bachelor.

Pascal wants to see younger contestants on ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Season 2

Season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette is coming to a close. As the finale looms, fans and former contestants are looking ahead to The Golden Bachelor season 2. Pascal Ibgui has thought about the type of contestant he’d want to see on the series if he were to lead the show. The Chicago business owner insists he’d be open to being the lead, but only if producers cast younger ladies.

During an interview with Us Weekly, Pascal said he would need a lower “age limit” to consider appearing on The Golden Bachelor. He quipped that despite his own “old” age, “I don’t go out with a 72-year-old woman.” Pascal didn’t elaborate on the age range he is interested in. Still, it seems unlikely his golden girls would be all that golden.

Did Pascal miss the point of the series?

Pascal’s call for younger contestants has outraged viewers, many of whom have enjoyed watching older men and women find love and open up on national TV. They’ve sounded off on social media, and for good reason.

Pascal’s requirement would ignore the show’s mission and send a toxic message to older ladies, the show’s target demographic. Pascal, at 69, is asking for younger women to compete for his heart. Here’s the thing: the woman he competed for was younger than him. Pascal is clearly interested in women in their 40s and 50s. That sends the message to women in their 60s and beyond that they are still “invisible” even to men older than them.

It’s also awfully hypocritical of the man. A woman of 72, assuming they’d even be interested in Pascal, would only be three years older than him. He won’t date older women, but he expects younger women to be receptive to him. He was almost a decade older than Joan Vassos and 18 years his ex-wife’s senior.

Pascal feels like an unlikely pick for the next Golden Bachelor, anyway. In the best of times, he was divisive and seen as completely snobbish in his worst moments. There are several contestants that fans would rather see lead the next season of The Golden Bachelor. Still, if he was in the running at some point, his recent comments likely knocked him out of contention. A dating app is probably a better fit for Pascal, anyway.

The dating competition alum agreed that Mark Anderson and Charles Ling would make solid leads because of their openness and personalities. Anderson, who Vassos eliminated just before she visited her suitors’ hometowns, and Ling, who left the competition in week 4, are both fan favorites.

However, Vassos wasn’t willing to commit to either man as the next lead. She insists she can think of five or so suitors who would be a good fit for the role. She said, “There’s a lot of personality, and there’s a lot of kindness and really open men that could navigate this journey as well as I did. Or maybe even better.”

Gary Levingston has some potential candidates in mind, too

Joan Vassos wasn’t the only The Golden Bachelorette alum who offered their opinion on who would be great as the next Golden Bachelor. Gary Levingston, who appeared in Joan’s season, has thoughts about the franchise’s future, too.

While Gary didn’t throw his hat in the ring, he did nominate Jordan Heller. Heller, a divorcée, was eliminated from the competition following the hometown dates. Still, fans agree that his good looks and spirit would make him a solid contender. Levingston also suggested Keith Gordon could take on the role. We are with Gary. We also listed Gordon and Heller as potential leads for the next season of The Golden Bachelor.

ABC has yet to announce who will be the next GoldenBachelor. Based on responses from The Golden Bachelorette contestants that Us Weekly caught up with ahead of the tell-all, a decision has yet to be made. That’s not out of the ordinary, though. It took months after the end of The Golden Bachelor Season 1 for ABC to announce that Joan Vassos would lead The Golden Bachelorette‘s inaugural season. Hopefully, they make a decision more quickly this time around.

Though ABC has not yet announced a second season of The Golden Bachelor, let’s assume it’s a done deal. Still, there is one change that ABC could make to ensure the next season of The Golden Bachelor feels fresh.

Both Joan Vassos and Gerry Turner lost their spouses

Joan Vassos and Gerry Turner, the leads in the first seasons of The Golden Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelor, have one major thing in common. While they hail from different regions and walks of life, both wore their grief as a badge of honor. Turner and Vassos both lost spouses. They were both still grieving their deaths when they agreed to date two dozen men or women with the hope of finding their next great love.

Vassos’ husband, John Vassos, died in 2021 from pancreatic cancer after battling the disease for more than two years. She was open about how much she missed him during The Golden Bachelorette.

Turner’s wife, Toni Turner, died from an infection that rapidly advanced several years before he appeared in the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor. They were high school sweethearts who married in 1972. Turner’s vulnerability initially endeared him to viewers, but he eventually became the villain of his season.

Keith Gordon, a divorced father of three, received the First Impression rose from Joan Vassos thanks to his fun and laidback nature. Despite being a Golden Bachelorette fan-favorite, Joan eliminated him before the Hometown dates.

Gordon divorced in 2012 and took on raising his three daughters. His youngest daughter has recently graduated from high school, so he’s ready to prioritize finding love. Gordon revealed that addiction in the family led to the end of his partnership, but he didn’t elaborate further. His background makes him an ideal candidate for the next Golden Bachelor.

Jordan Heller is also a divorced dad who opened up about the end of his marriage on The Golden Bachelorette. Of his divorce, he said, “There were some serious breaches of the marital trust, and that ruined the whole party, let’s say.” During his time on The Golden Bachelorette, he revealed that he had a really good marriage, and then it suddenly was no longer good.

According to Yahoo!, The Chicago native and his ex-wife were college sweethearts who appeared to be cordial despite the nature of their split. Jordan’s good looks, personality, and dedication to his family would make him a very eligible golden bachelor.

Pascal Ibgui shocked The Golden Bachelorette fans when he self-eliminated from the competition following a heavy one-on-one date with Joan during the Fantasy Suites episode. The French salon owner was not in love with Joan. Viewers, who had been largely critical of Pascal, appreciated his honesty.

Ibgui is still interested in finding love. He might make a solid lead in the next season of The Golden Bachelor. Ibgui divorced after 11 years of marriage in 2012, so he should be open to settling down again. The salon owner, however, would want to focus his search on women in the Chicago area based on things he’s said.

Guy Gansert, an ER doctor, is still in the running for Joan Vassos’ heart, but if he’s not the one she picks, he would make a strong candidate for the next season of The Golden Bachelor, despite some controversy. Gansert was married for 34 years before splitting from his ex-wife. While she briefly sought a restraining order against him, she later dropped it. Gansert addressed the controversy, insisting that his divorce was difficult for him and he felt a great deal of guilt over ending his marriage. Gansert insists he has spent time evaluating his behavior. ABC and Joan Vassos have vouched for his character.

ABC has yet to reveal if they will move forward with a second season of The Golden Bachelor. They have not discussed who could be the next golden bachelor, either.

As the finale grows closer, we can’t help but look at her eliminated contestants and see some potential pairings with the ladies who Gerry Turner turned down during his season of The Golden Bachelor. We think these Bachelor Nation contestants would make great golden couples.

Jordan and Leslie have a lot in common, and they’ve already been in contact

Jordan Heller and Leslie Fhima were heartbroken when booted from their respective dating competitions. Both put themselves out there, hoping to find love. They might be better fits for each other than the leads they competed for, though.

Jordan and Leslie are in the same geographical location, have young-at-heart spirits, share the same faith, and enjoy the same activities. They don’t need us to push them together, though. Jordan already took the initiative and invited Leslie out to a soccer game. She accepted, and while they aren’t dating yet, it could happen.

Gary and Ellen could cut up the dance floor together

Gary Levingston was eliminated during week 4 of The Golden Bachelorette, but it wasn’t because he didn’t play the game. In fact, Joan seemed to enjoy Gary’s company a lot. Still, the pair didn’t appear to have much sexual chemistry. That doesn’t mean the sparks wouldn’t fly between Gary and another The Golden Bachelor alum.

If we had to pick a love interest for Levingston, we’d pair him up with retired teacher Ellen Goltzer. Ellen and Gary have the same kind and caring spirits. They were wonderful additions to their respective casts but lacked some dating confidence. The duo both like to dance, although Ellen claims she has “two left feet.” We could see this pair cutting up the dance floor and laughing together.

Faith and Guy both enjoy the outdoors

Joan Vassos still has time to choose between Guy Gansert and Chock Chapple. While Guy and Joan are a good match, he might be better suited for another The Golden Bachelor contestant. We think Gansert and Faith Martin, who finished third on The Golden Bachelor, would make a solid golden couple.

Faith and Guy are both relatively quiet and laid-back people. They seem introspective and careful with their words. The potential duo also loves the outdoors. We can envision the pair getting along well and enjoying nature together.

Susan and Jack have similiar personas

Susan Noles was a fan favorite during her time on The Golden Bachelor. Jack Lencioni didn’t last long on The Golden Bachelorette, but fans of the series instantly liked his commentary on the mansion. Many viewers were bummed when Jack was sent home during week two. Thankfully, he hasn’t shied away from the spotlight since his short-lived appearance.

That brings us to why we think he and Susan Noles would get along well. Both Jack and Susan have outgoing, boisterous personalities that beg to be in the spotlight. The two extroverts could have a lot of fun together, traveling and commenting on the goings-on in Bachelor Nation. Jack admitted he’d be open to appearing on a Golden Bachelor in Paradise season if it were to happen. Perhaps he can meet Susan there? We think she’d be game, too.

The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette is a great concept. The shows have shone a light on an often-forgotten dating demographic, and while we’d love to believe that love can conquer all, there is one major problem with the franchise: the competitors all have established lives in their own cities.

Just before Gerry Turner embarked on his journey to find love on season 1 of The Golden Bachelor, we theorized that location would be a big problem. It turned out to be accurate.

While Joan Vassos hasn’t revealed who her true love is just yet, location preferences likely played a significant role in her final decision, too. There is one major tweak that could make The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette more successful, and more entertaining.

Pascal Ibgui gets honest about distance playing a significant role in ‘The Golden Bachelorette’

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have always pulled contestants from around the country to compete for love. While that has worked out largely OK when the contestants are in their 20s, things get more complicated for older contestants. Pascal Ibgui spoke with Glamour recently and suggested geographical hurdles make it impossible for older adults to find long-lasting love on The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.

Ibgui, who competed for Joan Vassos’ heart on The Golden Bachelorette, told the publication that he would not move for love at this point because he owns a business and real estate and has an established support system in Chicago. He also said he’s not interested in flying to see his partner every two weeks. Ibgui self-eliminated from the competition because he didn’t feel a spark with Vassos.

Could narrowing down the competition to geographical regions make it better?

Ibgui is one of many people who suggest geography would be a difficult hurdle for a couple to overcome as an older couple. We suggested it would be a problem before Turner’s season. Then, fans of the series watched location drama ruin Turner and Teresa Nist’s short-lived marriage.

Joan made it clear she wouldn’t be moving for love either. Ibgui thinks hosting “region-specific” competitions for The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette would make the most sense, and he’s right. Centering each season around a major metropolitan city, like New York, Chicago, and Seattle, and sourcing contestants from within driving distance of the city would undoubtedly increase the likelihood of successful matches.

ABC hasn’t issued a statement about the idea of narrowing down The Golden Bachelor or The Golden Bachelorette to a specific geographical location, but it’s not an untested concept. There have been dating shows that pull participants from the same geographical locations. Love is Blind is a prime example. While it doesn’t guarantee success for a couple, it does remove one of the biggest barriers to long-term compatibility, especially for older, more established participants.

The internet has a massive crush on Charles Ling, a retired financial analyst from Pennsylvania. Charles and Joan didn’t seem to have much chemistry, but the perfect woman is out there for Charles. Much to viewers ‘ dismay, Ling was eliminated from the competition in week four. Still, he took it well, and it does free him up to find someone who is a better fit for him.

Why does everyone love Charles? Not only was he kind, helpful, and empathetic to the men around him, but he appeared completely honest and genuine when interacting with Golden Bachelorette lead Joan Vassos. Yes, he’s clearly still grieving the loss of his wife. But a new love is out there for him, and selfishly, hopefully he finds it on national TV as the next Golden Bachelor.

Everyone wants to see Mark Anderson find love again

Mark Anderson already had a connection to Bachelor Nation when he stepped out of the final “special” limo on night one of The Golden Bachelorette. His daughter, Kelsey Anderson, found love on The Bachelor. It was easy to fall in love with the Army Veteran and widower during that appearance. While he’s still in the running for Joan Vassos’ heart, it’d be lovely to see him pick from a pool of women if things with Joan don’t work out.

In fact, fans were throwing Mark Anderson’s name around as the potential next Golden Bachelor long before he appeared to compete for Joan’s affection. Assuming things don’t work out, he’s undoubtedly a shoo-in for the role of the golden bachelor. That is, of course, if ABC moves forward with a second season.

Gary Levingston might be ‘rusty’ when it comes to dating, but he’d make a good Golden Bachelor

Sadly, Gary Levingston was cut in week four alongside Charles Ling. He was another contestant who was well-liked by both fans and other contestants. While things between Gary and Joan didn’t work out, he’s not bitter about it. He insists he would love to remain friends with Joan moving forward, admitting that they had a friendship rather than a romantic relationship. Even though he didn’t find love, the show helped him realize he’s ready to return to dating.

In an interview with People, Gary said he’s hopeful about his chances of finding love. He told the publication, “I just have to continue to wait and stay in prayer, and she’s going to be everything that I could have ever imagined.” Perhaps he can find that love on The Golden Bachelor season 2. His genuine nature, jovial personality, and down-to-earth vibes make him an ideal lead for the next season of The Golden Bachelor.

The franchise’s stars have welcomed dozens of children over the years, some even born to couples who met on the set of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. The franchise’s latest baby belongs to Colton Underwood and his husband, Jordan C. Brown. While the duo didn’t meet on one of the franchise’s dating shows, their baby boy’s entrance into the world is being celebrated by fans and stars alike.

Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown have expanded their family. The couple, who wed last year, took to Instagram to announce the birth of their first child together. Underwood revealed that their son, Bishop Colton Brown-Underwood, was born on Sept. 26. Bishop is the first child of Underwood and Brown. The baby boy was born via surrogacy.

She said she’d be hosting Joan Vassos for dinner one evening. She was planning a reunion with Gerry Turner’s two daughters, too. Still, Turner’s name isn’t on the guest list. When asked about Turner, Noles joked that there were “no men allowed.”

Sparks between Turner and Noles never really flew, and she was eliminated from the competition in week 5. Noles and Turner didn’t make a love connection. Still, she was certainly a fan favorite. She has turned her time on TV, however fleeting, into an entirely new career.

Susan Noles doesn’t blame Gerry Turner for the golden divorce

Noles isn’t open to the idea of serving Turner a meal in her home. Still, she doesn’t blame him for his divorce from Theresa Nist. While most of the internet turned on Turner following the divorce news, insisting that he played the contestants and kept secrets from Nist ahead of their marriage, Noles insists that wasn’t the case.

During an interview for The Jess Cagle Show, Noles defended Turner, suggesting that Nist might not have been so honest with him herself. Noles theorized that Nist agreed to give up her career and move to South Carolina with her new husband but refused to do it when the time came. Noles suggested Turner had gotten, understandably, frustrated. She blamed the divorce squarely on Nist, who she reportedly still speaks to.

While Gerry Turner, the first-ever Golden Bachelor, was initially beloved, the shine on Turner wore off as the season entered its final episode. Public sentiment about Turner worsened when he and his winner, Theresa Nist, announced they would be divorcing after just three months of marriage.

While Turner has been dubbed the villain of the series, some contestants have come out to defend him. Kathy Swarts suggested that the golden wedding and their marriage resulted from Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist getting caught up in the moment. Joan Vassos, the lead of the upcoming The Golden Bachelorette, doesn’t plan to do the same.

Kathy Swarts thinks the ‘golden divorce’ was bound to happen

Kathy Swarts and Susan Noles have emerged as the two most outspoken contestants from The Golden Bachelor Season 1. The duo, who became fast friends while filming, have worked hard since the end of the series to establish themselves as TV personalities. They have largely succeeded and made names for themselves by speaking openly about their experiences and sharing their opinions.

Swarts and Noles were pretty tight-lipped after Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner announced their divorce after just three months of marriage. Now, they are opening up.

During an appearance on SiriusXM, Noles and Swarts discussed the divorce. While Noles wanted to place more blame on Nist than Turner, Swarts was more diplomatic. She said she believed the couple got “caught up in the moment” and decided to get married without thinking it through. She went on to say that these things happen when you’ve only known your partner for a month. Swarts seemed to see the divorce as an inevitability.

Joan Vassos doesn’t intend to get ‘caught up in the moment’ on her season

Joan Vassos is against getting “caught up in the moment” and marrying too quickly after the end of her season. The lead of The Golden Bachelorette discussed her future plans before heading to California to film her season in June. The mother of four said she was not against getting engaged on the show. Still, she has no plans to marry quickly.

During a chat with CNN in May, Vassos said she plans to get to know the winner of her season in the real world before she makes any legal decisions. That is wise, considering what happened between Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner.

Regardless of what happens in the future for Vassos, fans of the series are excited to see the Maryland native possibly fall in love on TV. Her season will premiere on Sept. 18.

She filmed season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette in late June and July. By now, she has picked her winner. Rumor has it that it is not Kelsey Anderson’s dad, Mark Anderson. He allegedly does appear on the show, though.
